The Department of Education, Western Australia, seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Program Coordinator - Special Educational Needs (SEN). This position is a critical component of our commitment to providing inclusive education opportunities for all students.

As a Program Coordinator - SEN, you will lead a team of Education Support Teachers and Special Needs Education Assistants to cater for the educational and social/emotional needs of students with a range of disabilities within dedicated classrooms known as Hubs. You will oversee the educational adjustments for students with diagnosed disabilities who receive their education in mainstream classrooms.

The successful applicant will provide leadership regarding the development and implementation of a differentiated curriculum and Individual Education Plans for all students with diagnosed disabilities. They will upskill staff in using the Reporting to Parents SEN module and understand how to use the Disabilities Resourcing System to prepare and maintain applications for Individual Disability Allocations.

This leadership role has a 0.6FTE teaching load spread across both the Primary and Secondary Hubs. The successful applicant will ideally possess leadership in the development of curriculum designed to meet diverse student needs, including the implementation of ASDAN and ABLEWA curricula.

The ideal applicant will also have experience in working with the families of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with disabilities. They will have well-developed communication skills to work closely with a range of staff, including NDIS health professionals and other agencies to collaboratively seek positive student outcomes and family support.

The successful applicant will have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, families, and community members in Kununurra. They will possess excellence as a dedicated, self-reflective, and inclusive classroom practitioner with experience in teaching students with a range of educational needs.
