Job Title: Marine Superintendent

Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Marine Superintendent to join our team. As a Marine Superintendent, you will play a critical role in providing technical support and consultant services to dealers and internal/external customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the overall performance and field service of products to reduce warranty costs, service-related costs, and meet customer needs worldwide.
  • Identify problems, investigate causes, and establish priorities for resolution.
  • Define problems in terms of observed symptoms, research available data, and identify root causes.
  • Work with dealers and technical staff to identify information needed, issue product improvement and service improvement opportunities, and develop plans for fixing problems.
  • Initiate action for product improvement through PIP/PSP warranty program preparation to address commercial/business impact of field problems.
  • Prepare and distribute technical publications to identify problems, communicate resolutions, and announce product improvements.
  • Provide input to NPI (New Product Introduction) teams for setting serviceability, reliability, and durability goals.
  • Provide technical product support to dealer personnel, subsidiary service groups, marketing units, design engineers, technical information division, test, and evaluation teams.
  • Support marketing units with technical guidance for managing customer problems with product deficiencies.
  • Support design engineer activity by identifying market needs to be considered in new/changes to product.
  • Provide counsel to subsidiary plant service engineering/product quality on product problem maintenance.
  • Respond to dealer/customer and other Caterpillar employee questions regarding product performance.
  • Conduct dealer and customer visits to personally provide technical assistance on urgent field problems and for follow-up purposes.
Requirements:
  • Requires a technical/engineering background and several years of field service experience (preferably Caterpillar), and considerable technical, product, and service knowledge of a wide range of Marine products and their systems.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude and product knowledge and good engineering background.
  • Good effective communication skills, ability to organize work, and persuasiveness.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
