OSM People Australia is seeking a highly skilled Technical Superintendent to join our team. As a Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client expectations and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and execute daily running maintenance within budget and to high quality standards.
- Monitor and follow up on planned maintenance systems to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions, and inspect goods delivered.
- Supervise and coach Chief Engineers to ensure smooth and professional on-board technical management.
- Conduct vessel inspections and report on vessel status to Regional Marine Manager and Contract Manager.
- Analyze root causes of defects and take timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities and other relevant parties.
- Ensure full compliance with vessel certifications and regulatory requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third-party contractors and vendors.
- Ensure damages are surveyed and repaired in consultation with classification societies and the insurance department.
- Optimize and implement technical standards for new builds.
- Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels.
Requirements
- A strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering or Naval Architecture.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Ship Management as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
- Team player with a collaborative approach, maintaining high standards and good work ethics.
- High level of organizational and planning skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outcomes that are accurate, complete, and timely.
- Ability to satisfy a company pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol screening, and site inductions.
