Senior Regulatory Officer - Early Childhood Regulatory Authority Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Regulatory Officer to join our team in the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority.

  • The successful candidate will support the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority by consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.
  • The Senior Regulatory Officer reports to the Manager, Regional Operations, Early Childhood Regulatory Authority, Early Childhood Branch, Early Childhood and State Schools Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake regulatory activities and make recommendations that support the Regulatory Authority to undertake its functions under the legislation and in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making.
  • Provide recommendations that are informed by data, analysis of evidence and accurate interpretation of the legislation.
  • Identify and respond to risk in the ECEC sector through application of risk-based decision making in accordance with the legislation, exercising powers, gathering evidence and escalating matters accordingly.
  • Implement operational policy initiatives drawing on feedback, evaluation and data analysis to improve regulatory process and practice.
  • Contribute to the implementation of effective record keeping practices, data quality assurance and modelling appropriate use of regulatory systems.
  • Provide quality advice and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders including ECEC providers and services as well as the general public on different regulatory activities.
  • Prepare accurate, well-written communication on range of matters relating to ECEC regulation including correspondence, reports, briefs, regulatory decisions and recommendations.
