About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Aviation Specialist to join our team at Essential Energy. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of contracted crewed aviation services across the organisation. They will also lead the transition to a safer, more cost-effective and sustainable aviation operation, including the transition to uncrewed aviation operations like BVLOS drones.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing aviation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Managing risk and overseeing training and safety programs.
  • Ensuring the effective operation of contracted crewed aviation services.

About You

We are looking for an experienced aviation professional with a strong background in managing crewed aviation operations and risks. You may also have experience in uncrewed/drone operations. Your expertise includes developing and implementing aviation strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and transitioning to innovative, sustainable aviation solutions.

You will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to influence and support team members. Your strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to safety and operational excellence make you an ideal fit for this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
  • Training as a Lead Auditor in Work Health and Safety.
  • Aviation safety management systems training.
  • Aviation human factors training.
  • White Card - WorkCover Induction for Construction Work - General Course (or ability to obtain prior to commencing this role).
  • Driver's licence.

Desirable

  • Commercial pilot license (Fixed-wing or Helicopter), equivalent military pilot license, or five years of aviation safety system manager/officer experience.
  • Remote Pilot Licence.
