Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner in the OzChild Frankston office.

This role is part of our Victorian Family Preservation and Reunification Response, which aims to provide immediate, intensive, and sustained intervention to support vulnerable families.

The successful candidate will work within our Family Worx program, delivering a wrap-around, evidence-informed service that promotes cultural safety and early intervention. They will work collaboratively with SafeCare Educators and Functional Family Therapy-Child Welfare (FFT-CW) Therapists to deliver a culturally safe and responsive service.

Key responsibilities include working with DFFH Child Protection Practitioners to support clients using a relational approach that is adaptable and responsive to family needs. The role also involves case management from our Integrated Family Services (IFS) program, which promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and supports families to realise their potential.

Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or related discipline
  • Experience and comprehensive understanding of Child and Family Services, the Child Protection system, and court orders
  • Ability to develop strengths-based risk and needs assessments with families
  • Solid understanding of principles and challenges of supporting vulnerable families and knowledge of Child Protection issues
