Health and Safety Specialist

DRD Group is seeking a highly skilled Health and Wellness Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Injury Management and Return to Work (RTW): Oversee the management of workplace injuries and ensure a smooth return-to-work process for employees.
- Workplace Incidents/Injuries Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into workplace incidents and injuries, providing advice on corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Policies and Procedures Review: Review and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, updating policies and procedures as needed.
- Toolbox and Safety Meetings: Conduct regular toolbox and safety meetings to educate employees on workplace hazards and promote a culture of safety.
- Risk Assessments and Audits: Perform regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
- Safety Data Sheet Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety data sheets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Training and Coaching: Provide coaching, mentoring, and training on WHS strategies and activities to promote a culture of safety.
- Onsite Visits and Training: Organize and conduct onsite visits for safety training, including manual handling, fire training, spill training, and emergency drills.
- Training Matrix Maintenance: Maintain an accurate training matrix to track employee training and development.
- Mental Health Support: Provide mental health support and referrals to the EAP program as needed.
- First Aid Kit Maintenance: Ensure first aid kits and supplies are properly maintained and stocked.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Registration with a national board for a relevant nursing board.
- BLS certification; ACLS/ATLS certification would be advantageous.
