Prevention Specialist

The Hospital Acquired Complications (HAC) Prevention Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving patient safety initiatives and enhancing quality of care across our healthcare services.
This is an autonomous, results-driven individual who can manage their workload independently while fostering effective collaboration with key stakeholders and maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Support HAC Prevention Initiatives: Actively support processes within the HAC Improvement Model aimed at preventing hospital-acquired complications.
- Validate HAC Data: Ensure the accuracy and validity of HAC-related data by establishing procedures for reviewing coded HACs to confirm they are justified and accurate.
- Develop Collaborative Relationships: Establish strong relationships with coders and clinicians and communicate directly with clinical units as needed to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Identify and Support Improvement Opportunities: Pinpoint areas for improvement within the HAC model and support initiatives to enhance outcomes.
- Monitor HAC Rates: Assist Standard Committees and other expert groups in monitoring HAC rates, conduct aggregate reviews as necessary, and develop systems to monitor prevention structures.
