The University of Technology Sydney is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Head of Capital Works.

\

This position will be responsible for leading a team of internal project managers and engaging with external parties to develop and manage capital projects, including managing a wide range of projects across multiple campuses, working closely with master planners, space demand analysts, digital, design and construction teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

\

About the Role

\

The Head of Capital Works assists in providing strategic leadership and management of the Unit, responsible for all aspects of capital works, including project design and construction, financial feasibility, legal and commercial advice, and budget management.

\

They will be accountable for delivering results through the leadership and management of a diverse team of professionals, technical staff, administrative staff, and external consultants and contractors.

\

About the Team

The UTS Property Unit is situated within the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio. The unit's responsibilities include:

  • Managing capital projects across multiple campuses;\
  • Developing and implementing project plans and timelines;\
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project needs;\
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations;\
  • Providing guidance and support to team members;\
  • Monitoring and evaluating project progress and outcomes.\

This role requires a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in a related field, such as construction management, engineering, or business administration;\
  • Significant experience in project management, preferably in a capital works context;\
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;\
