Job Description

As a Catering Assistant at Southern Cross Care Queensland, you will play a vital role in enhancing the dining experience of our residents by preparing nutritious and high-quality meals. You will work collaboratively with our talented Hospitality team to promote a positive and enjoyable dining experience for all.

Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Food handling and preparation
  • Plating and serving of meals
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of quality meals
  • Basic record keeping (e.g., number of meals per day, missed meals) in consultation with the Chief Cook
  • Cleaning of dishes, kitchen workspace, equipment, utensils, and fixtures
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working in Aged Care or commercial kitchens (desired)
  • Demonstrated compassion, sensitivity, and maturity to provide high-quality meals
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Must be flexible with start time and days (including weekends)
  • Good knowledge of food safety (preferable HACCP)
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your time effectively
