Australian Defence Force: Opportunity of a Lifetime

As a Naval Engineering Officer, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience working on advanced submarines. This is a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills while being part of a highly trained team.

The role involves shadowing experienced Mechanical Engineer Submariners who oversee the operation and maintenance of these complex vessels. You will be exposed to various engineering systems, including battery plant management, propulsion, power generation, and ventilation.

This position is open to individuals without prior qualifications, offering a chance to try out a year in the Navy working alongside fully qualified professionals. You will receive payment for your work and have the opportunity to travel, gain valuable life and work experience, and make lifelong friendships.

You will be supported throughout your training by professional Navy personnel who will provide guidance and help you get the most out of this experience. Your Gap Year will consist of different stages, allowing you to complete basic training, tour shore establishments, and experience life at sea as well as ashore.

Your training will begin at the Royal Australian Naval College (RANC), HMAS Creswell in Jervis Bay, NSW, where you will complete a 15-week course alongside new Navy officers before continuing with the program. RANC is an energetic environment that challenges you to meet Navy standards of fitness, demeanour, and behaviour.

Coupled with high-standard leadership training, the skills you acquire across this role are transferable to other management and leadership positions, providing you with a unique edge.

Salary: $60,000 per annum (estimated)
