Principal Discipline Engineer/Mechanical

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Principal Discipline Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in mechanical design and possess excellent communication skills.

About the Role

This is a critical role that supports our Copper South Australia Major Projects growth program by providing technical subject matter expertise with Mechanical design.

  • The Principal Discipline Engineer/Mechanical will review engineering designs for effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring seamless integration into the broader project portfolio and asset.
  • They will assure that engineering designs meet operational, maintenance, construction, and commissioning requirements through active participation in risk-based workshops.
  • The successful candidate will ensure the quality of engineering design resources, processes, and tools are fit for purpose through regular risk-based technical audits with engineering service providers.
  • They will provide technical input to engineering project framing documents by collaborating with peers from other engineering disciplines, project managers, and other engineering leaders.
  • The Principal Discipline Engineer/Mechanical will ensure the adoption of required legislations, engineering standards, and asset engineering standards in the project scope.
  • They will optimize asset standards with the asset engineering team where necessary.
  • The successful candidate will identify and implement cost efficiencies into the design.
  • They will integrate internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Review engineering designs for effectiveness and efficiency
  2. Ensure designs meet operational, maintenance, construction, and commissioning requirements
  3. Assure quality of engineering design resources, processes, and tools
  4. Provide technical input to engineering project framing documents
  5. Adopt required legislations, engineering standards, and asset engineering standards
  6. Optimize asset standards
  7. Implement cost efficiencies into the design
