Overview

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade seeks skilled media, social media, and communications specialists to communicate externally and internally. Vacancies exist in the Communication Branch.

Job Description

Media officers work with various divisions, overseas posts, and State and Territory Offices to engage with the media and support Ministers as spokespersons for the portfolio. Responsibilities include responding to media enquiries, supporting international advocacy, program delivery, and advice on domestic campaign activity.

Strategic communications and social media officers help communicate the Australian Government's policies and priorities to domestic and international audiences. We work across departments and agencies to develop and implement communication strategies for foreign and trade policy, development, and consular priorities.

We also support our Embassies, High Commissions, and Consulates to connect and engage with audiences in their host countries and with Australians overseas. This can include ongoing social media for DFAT's central channels or network of overseas accounts.
