Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Signalling and Communications Manager. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading the Signalling business within John Holland, balancing internal Rail project delivery and external client work. You'll develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and potential customers, and drive business development through identifying new opportunities and converting them into successful projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate resource balance and capability to support the delivery of larger John Holland projects and Rail Services NSW/ACT/QLD projects.
  • Lead new business development, continuous improvement, and contribute to broader business activities.
  • Provide leadership responsibility in health, safety, and environment management.
  • Manage the overall delivery of projects on or ahead of schedule, with all stakeholder expectations met or exceeded.
  • Ensure compliance in commercial and financial management, including meeting budgets and identifying cost-saving measures.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive, and professional communication.
  • Advise on industrial relations issues and implications and develop appropriate resolutions.
  • Demonstrate leadership in risk management, compliance, and auditing, and ensure legislative, pre-contract, and commercial obligations are met.
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community, and other external parties are developed and maintained.
  • People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise the workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high-performance team within a positive employee relations environment.
Requirements
  • Trade qualifications and training, e.g., Degree, Diploma, Engineering, Building/Construction, Project Management.
  • Previous rail experience in a similar role, understanding how to lead and develop a business.
  • People and performance management of subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
  • Safety and environment management, resource management, and construction program and methodology.
  • Skill in review of design documentation, ability to understand drawings, provide constructability review, and implement final design plans.
  • Supervision of projects in excess of $100M construction projects.
  • Understand productivity factors and utilisation planning.
  • Experience in pre-contracts and tendering.
  • Experience with Industrial Relations.
