About John Holland
At John Holland, our mission is straightforward: we enhance lives through our endeavors. We recognize that infrastructure fundamentally revolves around individuals — our clients, our workforce, and the communities we serve.
This is what sets us apart. Our extensive experience and capabilities are complemented by a genuine commitment to improving lives along the way.
Become part of a team that embraces the challenge of making a positive impact.
Your achievements contribute to our collective success, and we are dedicated to being an employer of choice. We take pride in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, as varied perspectives and ideas are crucial for our long-term success.
We aim to support your long-term career growth by providing enriching experiences and continuous development opportunities.
We are in search of a highly capable and driven professional to take on the role of Signalling and Communications Manager. In this capacity, you will oversee a Signalling division within John Holland. Your role will involve balancing the support for self-performed delivery on internal Rail projects while also identifying, securing, and safely executing projects for external clients.
Your responsibilities will include cultivating and sustaining robust relationships with clients, stakeholders, and potential customers (both internal and external). Your outstanding business development acumen will be vital in recognizing new opportunities and transforming them into successful initiatives. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal Rail & Transport Pre-contracts teams to develop compelling proposals and project plans, ensuring that we fulfill client expectations and meet project timelines by leveraging John Holland's internal resources.
We seek an individual with strong capabilities in business enhancement, who can pinpoint innovations and growth areas, and implement effective strategies to propel our organization forward. Your insights into industry trends will be instrumental in establishing our position as a market leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure optimal resource allocation and capability to support the execution of larger John Holland projects as well as Rail Services projects across NSW/ACT/QLD.
- Lead initiatives in business development, continuous improvement, and contribute to broader organizational activities.
- Take a leadership role in health, safety, and environmental management.
- Oversee project delivery to ensure timelines are met and stakeholder expectations are exceeded.
- Ensure compliance in financial management, including budget adherence, cost-saving identification, accurate forecasting, and maximizing project profit margins.
- Foster strong internal and external stakeholder relationships through proactive and professional communication.
- Provide guidance on industrial relations matters and develop appropriate resolutions.
- Exhibit leadership in risk management, compliance, and auditing, ensuring adherence to legislative and commercial obligations.
- Engage stakeholders actively, developing and maintaining beneficial relationships with clients, subcontractors, and the community.
- Monitor workforce and resource management to ensure project capability, supervising teams and promoting a high-performance culture.
- Perform all duties in alignment with John Holland's policies and procedures.
Essential Skills:
- Inspire and lead teams to foster enthusiasm and innovation to achieve project objectives.
- Provide technical guidance during both the tender and delivery phases.
- Proactively monitor project performance throughout their lifecycle.
To excel in this pivotal role, you should possess:
- Relevant qualifications such as a Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Building/Construction, or Project Management.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the rail sector, demonstrating leadership and business development capabilities.
- Experience in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labor.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental management, resource allocation, and construction methodologies.
- Ability to review design documentation and implement final design plans effectively.
- Experience supervising large-scale projects exceeding $100M.
- Understanding of productivity factors and resource planning.
- Experience in pre-contracts and tendering processes.
- Familiarity with industrial relations matters.
What We Offer:
At John Holland, we connect your sense of purpose with ours. We recognize that your career is a significant avenue for making an impact. We are committed to supporting you as a whole person, not just as an employee.
We provide a range of rewards and support for our employees, beginning with flexibility in work arrangements. From leading leave policies to wellness and relationship support, your needs are central to our employee benefits.
Our offerings include:
- Competitive remuneration with options for salary continuance and salary sacrifice.
- Generous leave benefits, including 18 weeks of paid parental leave with superannuation and additional superannuation contributions for extended unpaid parental leave.
- Career advancement opportunities driven by our exciting project pipeline, allowing you to work on iconic projects that shape communities.
- Access to learning and development programs, including emerging talent initiatives and technical training.
- A commitment to inclusion and diversity, evident in our Gender Equality Strategic Plan and various employee networks.
- Flexible working arrangements tailored to individual needs, recognizing that flexibility means different things to different people.
