Job Description

The Centre for Learning and Teaching at Edith Cowan University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Learning Designer to join our team. As a key member of the Teaching Quality team, you will play a central role in supporting academic staff to enhance the student learning experience and ensure student success.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual who possesses extensive knowledge and experience in applying effective curriculum and learning design principles and strategies for consistent quality in a higher education setting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in learning sciences, education, or instructional design, and will be able to apply evidence-based approaches to improve learning outcomes and support active and engaged learning in unit and course design.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting a team of academic staff to transform their curriculum and practice with high-quality, engaging, and innovative approaches appropriate for online and face-to-face teaching. They will also possess a strong commitment to learning and supporting staff to use emerging technologies; new pedagogical approaches; and sound assessment practices to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert advice and leadership to individuals, course teaching teams, and Schools to implement curriculum transformation at scale
- Develop and deliver high-quality training programs and resources to support academic staff in their teaching practices
- Collaborate with academic staff to design and develop innovative learning experiences that meet the needs of students
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in learning design and technology-enhanced learning

Selection Criteria

- Master's degree or higher qualification in relevant field (e.g., Learning Sciences, Education, Instructional Design) or demonstrated equivalence
- Ability to apply learning design principles and evidence-based approaches to improve learning outcomes and support active and engaged learning in unit and course design
- Experience supporting a team of academic staff to transform their curriculum and practice with high-quality, engaging, and innovative approaches appropriate for online and face-to-face teaching
- Strong communication skills, especially interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and organisational staff and management at all levels
- Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $111,152 to $125,191 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
