Strategic Policy Expert

This is a challenging role within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment (NSS) Enterprise Governance and Management Branch. As a strategic policy expert, you will be accountable for performing and achieving policy, governance, and strategic management outcomes.

The branch works closely with key stakeholders in Navy, Prime Minister and Cabinet, Finance, and NSS Group to deliver strategic priorities supporting the program of naval shipbuilding and sustainment.

A strategic policy expert will have significant strategic awareness and stakeholder engagement skills, liaising with internal and external stakeholders on complex issues. They will identify, anticipate, and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations to achieve Defence outcomes.

  • Develop cabinet submissions and report achievements;
  • Manage commercial arrangements, including the Naval Shipbuilding College Contract and Maritime Insurance Program;
  • Establish continuous naval shipbuilding enablers as a program under the Defence capability program architecture;
  • Coordinate ministerial and parliamentary enquiries;
  • Strategically manage the internal and external narrative for naval shipbuilding and sustainment;
  • Develop and deliver a data and digital strategy for the maritime domain.
