Overview
We are seeking a professional to provide support services for students with mild intellectual disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of these individuals.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that provides vocational pathway certificate studies, enabling students to develop their skills and achieve their full potential.
Our school operates on two campuses, with a new Administration-Senior School Block providing additional facilities for our students. We are committed to continuous improvement and ongoing learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support educational services being provided to students, excluding duties of a teacher as defined in relevant legislation.
- Perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction.
- Assist teachers within an educational program by undertaking specific support tasks or coordinating the support function.
- Supervise students individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances, ensuring the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- An understanding of the importance of specialist schools.
- Capacity to work positively with a range of people including teachers, consultants, education support staff, students, and parents.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers, software, or technical equipment.
- A commitment to professional learning and growth.
- Ability to work effectively with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
