Casual community-linked roles are available for enthusiastic individuals who can commit to approximately 3 hours of work per week. These roles are based in the city, with opportunities for travel across metropolitan areas. As a Community Mentor, you will be providing therapeutic mentoring support to young people under our care who are at risk of disengaging from education and community supports.

Key Responsibilities:

You will build structured and trusting relationships with your mentees, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to develop their confidence and competence. This may involve supporting the development of mentee goal plans, case plans, and transition from care plans that ensure integration of the young person's identified cultural needs. You will also assist your mentees in participating in education, training, and/or employment or volunteering activities to achieve success and reach their full potential.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have proven communication skills to engage and establish rapport with children and young people from diverse backgrounds. A safe environments training certificate and responding to abuse and neglect certificate are also essential requirements. You should be able to demonstrate commitment to reflective practice that focuses on strengths and builds capacity of individuals. Additionally, you will need to be able to assess information and collaboratively plan and implement appropriate services to children and young people who have been affected by abuse and/or neglect.
