Financial Services Role Summary">

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Junior Accountant to join our finance team in a dynamic financial services environment. This role reports directly to the Senior Financial Accountant and provides essential support across various accounting functions, from daily operations to month-end processes and year-end activities.

Daily Operations

  • Assist with daily finance team tasks and operational accounting activities
  • Support accounts payable processes and vendor management
  • Participate in the creation of billing packs for clients
  • Serve as key contact for clients on billing enquiries and resolve billing-related issues
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Process routine accounting transactions and entries

Month-End Activities

  • Post month end journals and complete balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Conduct intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end reporting preparation and analysis
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports

Regulatory and Compliance

  • Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) to the relevant authorities
  • Complete ABN related forms and applications
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax and regulatory requirements

Annual Processes

  • Provide comprehensive support during year-end audit processes
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
  • Assist with year-end adjustments and closing procedures

Additional Duties

  • Support ad-hoc finance projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to process improvement activities
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Provide backup support for other team members as required

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and minimum 3-4 years of post-qualification accounting experience. Experience in Australian accounting practices and regulations is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent time management skills, and effective communication skills.

Key Requirements:

  • Accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3-4 years of post-qualification accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards (AASB)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of BAS preparation and ATO requirements
  • Familiarity with audit processes and procedures
