Role Description

Aboriginal and Islander education officers play a vital role in supporting the educational success of Aboriginal students. The position involves working closely with teachers, parents, and the community to provide cultural support and promote understanding of Indigenous culture.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about enabling Aboriginal students to achieve their full potential as Aboriginal people. They will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to establish positive relationships with families and local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cultural support to Aboriginal students, their families, and the community
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement culturally responsive educational programs
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families and local communities
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and programs that promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, and community members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and reconciliation
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve common goals
