Job Description

Junior Trainee Ecologist/Botanist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled junior trainee ecologist/botanist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting botanical surveys, identifying plant community types, assessing vegetation condition, preparing vegetation maps, and providing written input to ecological reports.

The primary objective of the role is to be trained in technical expertise on ecological projects with a particular focus on botanical aspects.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong foundation in ecology, botany, and GIS to develop their skills and knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.

  • Conducting botanical surveys to identify and map plant species
  • Identifying plant community types and assessing vegetation condition
  • Preparing vegetation maps using GIS software
  • Providing written input to ecological reports
  • Developing skills in business management, including project coordination and stakeholder engagement
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • AQF level 7 tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree) including Australian ecology, Australian botany, and GIS
  • Current driver's licence
  • Resident within daily commuting distance of our office

Candidates must have excellent English communication and report writing skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
