Role Overview

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the Australian Electoral Commission's Indigenous Electoral Participation Program.

You will be part of a team that identifies and addresses barriers faced by First Nations people in relation to electoral participation, driving positive change and enhancing community engagement.

The Opportunity

Candidates must have a deep understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven skills in culturally appropriate engagement and communication.

  • Deep understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Able to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, fostering strong relationships and trust.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including tailoring messages for various audiences, ensuring clear and concise information exchange.
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to contribute to activities and deliver results, meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations.
  • Able to identify problems and work collaboratively to resolve them, promoting a culture of innovation and improvement.

A commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive outcomes is essential, requiring effective collaboration and open communication.

Desirable Qualifications

Relevant qualifications in Indigenous studies or community engagement/education are highly desirable, providing a solid foundation for success in this role.

Knowledge of legislation and programs, as well as policies, is also beneficial, enabling you to navigate complex issues and drive meaningful change.
