Job Role: Auditor

The Regulatory Compliance Branch oversees regulatory audits and risk management activities to ensure import and export establishments comply with biosecurity regulations. Our team conducts nationwide integrated regulatory audits, providing assurance that our systems are managing risks effectively.

We operate as a national team with staff located in major capital cities and regional centers. The Audit Operations Section is responsible for delivering the audit work program in line with the agreed Risk Based Approach.

This includes audit preparation, desk audits, remote and on-site audits, and audit follow-up. We conduct numerous audits each year across various commodities, including:

  • Biosecurity approved arrangements
  • Plant export property accreditations
  • Plant export registered establishment audits and Plant Authorised Officer verifications
  • Fish, eggs, and dairy export registered establishments
  • Meat processing export registered establishments

Auditor Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead and/or conduct audits, assessing risk against relevant legislation, criteria, and guidelines. They will maintain accurate and timely records to meet client service standards.

The Auditor will work collaboratively as part of a team, support staff in learning and development opportunities, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

They will build productive working relationships within the department, with regulated entities, and across industry. The Auditor will commit to business improvement initiatives, demonstrating a positive attitude towards change.

Key Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.

A degree in a relevant field, combined with professional certification or experience in auditing, would be highly regarded.
