About the opportunity:

The Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR) plays a vital role in ensuring safety and compliance in the electrical and gas industries in South Australia. We are committed to upholding high technical standards, protecting the community, and supporting industry stakeholders.

We are currently seeking a motivated Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our team, providing essential administrative and compliance support to the Electrical Installations and Appliance Safety Section.

As a Regulatory Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide quality administrative support, including maintaining technical databases, drafting correspondence, and preparing reports and meeting minutes.
  • Manage public and industry enquiries via phone and email, assessing issues and directing them to the appropriate technical staff.
  • Process regulatory reports and maintain accurate records to support compliance with the Electricity Act 1996 and Gas Act 1997.
  • Coordinate and track technical audit activities, including issuing audit requests, compiling reports, and monitoring follow-up actions.
  • Prepare and send compliance-related communications, including rectification notices and audit notifications to contractors and property owners.
  • Support team operations by attending toolbox meetings, transcribing interviews, and providing backup for electronic certificate of compliance systems.

This position will be a part of a professional dedicated team, committed to supporting public safety through regulatory compliance. This is a dynamic and detail-oriented role that requires strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset.

Selection Criteria:

  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of internet databases.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work flexibly under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data and records management.
  • Proven experience in administrative roles, including drafting minutes, reports, letters, and technical documentation.

Remuneration:

ASO2 salary range $58,709 - $63,154 per annum (pro rata) + superannuation

Part-time role, working 3 days or 22.5 hours per week
