The AFL is seeking a purpose-driven individual to lead the development and implementation of initiatives that promote diverse representation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in human resources or recruitment, with a strong track record in implementing diversity strategies that prioritize Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The role involves building and maintaining a robust talent pipeline, training hiring leaders on inclusive recruitment practices, and developing stakeholder relationships.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving strategies, programs, and initiatives that promote the attraction, development, and retention of First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse peoples at the AFL.

Key Responsibilities

  2. Lead the development and implementation of initiatives to increase diverse representation at the AFL.
  3. Support hiring leaders through tailored recruitment processes for diverse applicants.
  4. Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline and train hiring leaders on inclusive recruitment practices.
  5. Work with People Business Partners to identify targeted departments and roles for First Nations, culturally diverse, and women candidates.
  6. Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, both internal (People Team, hiring leaders) and external (candidates, community organizations, universities, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander organizations).

  • A strong track record in human resources or recruitment.
  • Experience in implementing diversity strategies that prioritize Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and build strong, productive relationships across the business and externally.
  • Passionate and self-driven with a high level of initiative – strong focus on execution of high-quality outputs.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-driven.
  • An excellent work ethic, a desire for continued learning, and drive to deliver outcomes.
