Geotechnical Engineer Role Overview

Job Summary

This role involves working in a dynamic geotechnical team to develop understanding of procedures related to ground stability, ground monitoring/control, and mine infrastructure (underground and open pit). The successful candidate will undertake various underground and open pit geotechnical field work tasks, conduct data collection and analysis for ground support and stope design criteria, and ensure all geotechnical-related data are methodically archived.

Responsibilities
  • Develop understanding of procedures related to ground stability, ground monitoring/control, and mine infrastructure
  • Undertake underground and open pit geotechnical field work tasks, such as core logging, sample collection and preparation, Q/Q'-mapping, and wall mapping
  • Conduct data collection and analysis for ground support and stope design criteria
  • Document the behaviour of rock masses and quality control measures
  • Communicate promptly on Rock Noise reports and ensure all geotechnical-related data are archived
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation
  • Minimum 1 year experience in both underground and open-pit projects
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
  • Able to learn and use mining software packages and tools
