About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Manager Clinical Coding to join our team at WA Health.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategically managing, planning, directing, and controlling the activities of Clinical Coding Services within the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS).

This role involves providing expert consultancy and specialist advice to the Area Director, Business Information and Performance (BIP) in the management of clinical coding resources.

The Area Manager Clinical Coding will be responsible for providing reports and evaluating data and statistics for clinical and analytical purposes.

As a member of the NMHS BIP team, the successful candidate will use this information for strategic planning, policy development, and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategically manage, plan, direct, and control the activities of Clinical Coding Services within the NMHS.
  • Provide expert consultancy and specialist advice to the Area Director, BIP, in the management of clinical coding resources.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Clinical Coding Services.
  • Provide reports and evaluate data and statistics for clinical and analytical purposes.
  • Collaborate with the NMHS BIP team to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as health information management or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Clinical Coding Services in a large complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to translate organisational strategy into operational goals.
  • Experience complying with legislative governance.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to provide strategic leadership and management.
