About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Investigator to join our Compliance and Enforcement Division. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in protecting Australia's vital industries, environment, and economic growth.

The successful candidate will conduct intelligence-informed investigations into serious non-compliance of portfolio legislation, utilizing the full suite of regulatory sanctions available to the department. This will involve conducting investigations into alleged breaches of portfolio and other relevant Commonwealth legislation, taking statements, and preparing and presenting high-quality briefs of evidence for criminal and civil proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations into alleged breaches of portfolio and other relevant Commonwealth legislation
  • Take statements, conduct records of interview, and draft, apply for, and execute warrants
  • Prepare and present high-quality briefs of evidence for criminal and civil proceedings
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Investigations Branch business outcomes, including the development and implementation of enforcement strategies and policies
  • Establish and maintain effective and productive relationships with departmental staff, counterparts in other agencies, and industry groups
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in law enforcement and/or experience with a regulatory agency, with contemporary criminal and/or civil investigations and investigation management skills and competence. A Cert IV in Government Investigations or the ability to achieve this qualification within 12 months of engagement is essential.

The successful applicant must hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle driver's license and be willing to perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work, as well as undertake travel intra and interstate.
