Our organization is seeking a highly skilled specialist to provide expert advice on environmental and health & safety matters. This role will involve supporting internal customers and programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expert advice on environmental and health & safety processes and issues. You will support internal customers and programs on environmental and health & safety processes and issues, perform inspections and audits, investigate incidents, and provide advice on corrective actions.

You will also coordinate the development and maintenance of EHS Management Plans, prepare EHS reports for program and functional leadership, and help establish a culture aligned with EHS objectives and continuous improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on environmental and health & safety processes and issues.
  • Support internal customers and programs on environmental and health & safety processes and issues.
  • Perform inspections and audits, investigate incidents, and provide advice on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of EHS Management Plans.
  • Prepare EHS reports for program and functional leadership.
  • Help establish a culture aligned with EHS objectives and continuous improvements.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 5 or more years of related work experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment, Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to travel to support various program facilities and deployment locations.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant Environmental and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in implementing and supporting risk management processes within high-risk work environments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience conducting in-depth safety investigations (ICAM trained desirable).
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, and experience interpreting and presenting EHS data.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EHS contractor management requirements.
  • Energy, passion, problem-solving ability, and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements. An ability to attain NV1 Security Clearance will be required.
