The Geopolitical Risk and Engagement Advisor role involves providing expert guidance to UNSW academic staff on international collaborations and research agreements.
About the Position
- Offer professional advice on matters related to foreign interference, dual-use technologies, Defence Trade Controls, and sanctions.
- Collaborate with the UNSW National Security Team and Faculty of Engineering leadership to develop a University-wide approach to managing foreign risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough due diligence on foreign partners to identify potential foreign interference and conflicts of interest.
- Lead the rollout of educational materials and training to enhance awareness of foreign interference and compliance responsibilities within Engineering.
- Work closely with HR, faculty leadership, and National Security Team leadership to manage sensitive conflict of interest and foreign affiliation issues.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training, or experience.
- A strong understanding of international relations, Australian foreign policy settings, and a solid grasp of sanctions, critical technologies, and University Foreign Interference Taskforce Guidelines.
- The ability to work independently and build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
