Maintenance Manager

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead property maintenance across our unique property. Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee daily operations, preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate contractors to ensure smooth, safe and efficient operations of the hotel's facilities.

The Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel is located in the flagship town of Jabiru, approximately 2.5 hours from Darwin. This vibrant town is transitioning from an ex mining town into a hospitality hub, aligning with Traditional Owners' wishes.

Kakadu itself is enigmatic. Spanning almost 20,000km2, it offers a diverse and enchanting variety of landscapes. Home to two UNESCO World Heritage Listings, Kakadu is famous for its deep connection to culture, proudly celebrating being home to the oldest known culture in the world. When not at work, you have nature's greatest playground at your doorstep.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the maintenance and repair of the hotel infrastructure including plumbing, electrical, HVAC and grounds.
  • Implement effective preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of professionals.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance or facilities management role, preferably in hospitality or remote locations.
  • A strong trade background (electrical, plumbing, carpentry or general maintenance).
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of WHS compliance and building regulations.
  • Ability to lead a team to achieve goals.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to team culture.
