Job Title: Chief Intellectual Property Officer

The company is seeking a seasoned intellectual property professional to lead its global IP strategy.

  1. Develop and implement a forward-looking global IP strategy aligned with business objectives.
  2. Manage the company's IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights across multiple jurisdictions.
  3. Conduct regular IP audits, gap analyses, and competitor benchmarking.
  4. Collaborate with senior leadership, product, R&D, and marketing teams on IP risks and opportunities tied to innovation and expansion.
  5. Draft, negotiate, and review IP-related clauses in commercial agreements.
  6. Educate internal teams on IP best practices, ownership, and protection strategies.
  7. Oversee and coordinate IP disputes globally, engaging external counsel as required.
  8. Design and implement global IP enforcement strategies, including anti-counterfeiting programs where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and mitigate infringement risk in product development and market entry strategies.
  • Navigate and advise on jurisdiction-specific IP issues.
  • Stay abreast of international IP trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes that impact the business.

Requirements:

  1. 8+ years of post-qualification experience in intellectual property law, preferably in-house.
  2. Proven track record in global IP strategy, including contentious and non-contentious work.
  3. Deep understanding of patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright law across major jurisdictions.
  4. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
  5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills across global teams.
