Land Strategist Role Overview

Job Description:

This Land Strategist position plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of land strategy to secure lands for future renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with multiple functions and departments to manage diverse workloads, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality results.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with Land Advisors to execute APAC and Global Land project land assembly plans via acquisitions, contract rights, mining permits, licenses, and leases.
  2. Maintain accurate records of all contract documents within Fortescue's systems.
  3. Track key milestones, renewals, and compliance obligations.
  4. Coordinate closely with Legal, Commercial, Native Title, Project Approvals, Environment, Heritage, and project controls teams to ensure seamless alignment.
  5. Develop and maintain project coordination tools including stakeholder engagement logs and other relevant project management instruments.
  6. Create optimal tools to capture and present information on land rights and interests, including capturing land access agreements and ensuring validity to meet long-term requirements.
  7. Conduct due diligence inquiries on properties (title searches) and prepare comprehensive reports outlining findings.
  8. C Coordinate Governance and Compliance checks with the Legal team.
  9. Cordinate landholder exclusive collaboration contracts, NDAs, and similar agreements, including novel and complex issues handled in conjunction with Legal.
  10. Cordinate land access component of Land Use Certificates (LUCs) on InfoScope to ensure safe and valid access under Fortescue agreement or ownership (non-Mining access).
  11. Organise project logistics, travel requirements, planning meetings, and preparation of Journey Management Plans, presentation materials, and stakeholder meetings setup.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Commercial support experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of WA land tenure classifications is desirable.
  • Experience as a para-legal is also desirable.
  • High proficiency in using databases and systems to manage information.
  • Able to interact constructively across all levels and functions to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Belief in the value of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Self-motivation with resilience when handling diverse workloads and priorities, delivering quality and timely results.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
