The successful candidate will be based at the Alukura Women's Health and Maternity Specialty Service and will use their intimate cultural and social knowledge to provide advice, mentoring, and education to staff and management across all Congress services and programs.
This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of cultural safety, responsiveness, and knowledge to foster a strong organisational culture and optimise health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people working in collaboration with the Male Aboriginal Cultural Advisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and guidance on Aboriginal cultural matters to staff and management
- Develop and implement cultural education programs to enhance cultural safety and responsiveness
- Collaborate with the Male Aboriginal Cultural Advisor to promote a strong organisational culture
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that reflect Aboriginal cultural values and principles
- Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal community members and organisations
Requirements:
- Highly skilled and knowledgeable Aboriginal female with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intimate cultural and social knowledge of Aboriginal communities
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and management to promote cultural safety and responsiveness
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and principles
- Ability to develop and implement cultural education programs
