Job Overview

Leading Payroll Operations is a key role at our organization.

Location: Melbourne, VIC, Australia (Hybrid)

We are hiring to scale an AI-enabled service for small businesses across Australia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owning payroll workflow delivery – ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Maintaining service levels, proactively solving capacity and SLA risks
  • Overseeing ad-hoc requests and ensuring high-quality outcomes across all tasks
  • Implementing strong quality control practices in partnership with the Process & Quality team
  • Conducting root cause analysis and documenting quality issues to prevent recurrence
  • Maintaining up-to-date process documentation and supporting platform improvements
  • Building scalable onboarding processes for new customers, reducing key person risk
  • Driving team development and technical training to maintain excellence
  • Serving as a technical SME in the shift toward a more scalable marketplace payroll model
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to improve workflows and unlock future growth
Required Skills
  • A strong obsession with execution – setting high standards and delivering consistently
  • Experience leading teams and building scalable, repeatable processes
  • Fluency in payroll operations and compliance (Australia & NZ ideal)
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think systemically
  • A passion for improving workflows and working closely with product teams
  • An interest in shaping the future of payroll delivery in a modern, AI-enabled model

  • Experience transitioning payroll teams to marketplace or outsourced models
  • Experience implementing payroll technology or leading platform enhancements
