Job Title: Education Assistant

This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency.

Collie Senior High School is an Independent Public Secondary School in the heart of the close knit community of Collie. We aim to provide opportunities for all students to develop skills, knowledge and resilience, through high quality teaching, to pursue pathways of their choice.

As a mainstream education assistant, you will assist teachers in the delivery of planned educational programs and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.

  • This role involves working under direct supervision of classroom teachers to perform routine tasks using established procedures and methods.

The successful applicant should be able to build strong, trusting relationships with students, using patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement to encourage participation and persistence.

This position focuses on working predominantly with Year 7 students who present with low literacy and numeracy skills, providing tailored support to help them engage with learning activities and build foundational academic competencies.

Requirements:
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting
  • Consent to a National Criminal History Check
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated sound organisational skills
