About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Principal Geologist - Business Development to join our Discovery team. This role will play a crucial part in identifying, assessing, acquiring, and developing exploration opportunities that significantly enhance the value and strategic options of our Discovery portfolio.
The ideal candidate will drive value creation by identifying and capitalizing on high-potential exploration opportunities that have been previously unrecognised. This is a permanent position based in our West Perth office with ad-hoc travel required.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and assess exploration business development opportunities to enhance the discovery portfolio.
- Provide technical expertise and conduct detailed data analysis to evaluate the potential of new opportunities.
- Make strategic recommendations on early to advance-stage exploration projects.
- Ensure continuous replenishment of the exploration portfolio with high-potential opportunities.
- Identify and evaluate exploration business opportunities by conducting regional framework studies and synthesizing historical datasets.
- Lead technical and non-technical due diligence on exploration opportunities.
- Provide input in valuation and negotiation processes for commercial agreements.
- Ensure successful project execution by providing handover to project teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A higher degree in Geology or a related geoscientific discipline.
- Extensive experience in the mining and exploration industry, with predominant exposure to gold and gold-related systems.
- Broad knowledge of mineral systems targeting, along with the ability to analyse and interpret integrated geological and business development datasets.
- Proven understanding of geological modelling and geostatistical resource estimation methods, with direct experience in fold resource modelling.
- An understanding of QAQC procedures and database management, drilling and sampling practices, and advanced methods in Geochemistry and geophysics for gold exploration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and written skills, adept at Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent problem-solving and reporting writing abilities.
