A Carpenter position is available in our Rollingstock Maintenance team at the Cairns (Portsmith) Depot.
About the JobWe are looking for a skilled Carpenter to provide carpentry maintenance services to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Operations and other areas of the Rollingstock Maintenance Depot.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to carriages, ensuring reliability and availability.
- Contribute to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Carriage Overhaul & Refurbishment Program.
- Participate in a semi-autonomous team environment, supporting safety, training, and depot operations.
- Ensure accurate data entry into maintenance systems and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and plan operational safety practices.
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have:
- Certificate III in Carpentry.
- High-level skills in overhaul, refurbishment, maintenance, and fault finding on timber structures.
- Substantial experience working in semi-autonomous teams with minimal supervision.
- Sound knowledge of depot maintenance practices and procedures.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with quality management principles.
- Willingness to commit to and work within established procedures and standards.
This position offers a 8-day fortnight roster. With the current roster, you have the potential to earn over $115,000 annually.
