Job Overview

The role of the Senior Electrical Engineer is to provide leadership and technical expertise in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for underground mining infrastructure. This includes preparing engineering calculations, designing electrical equipment, managing packages, and collaborating with designers on 3D models and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist project managers and engineers in defining project requirements related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare specifications and designs for underground mining infrastructure, including electrical equipment, power distribution systems, and control systems.
  • Develop project standard specifications and design criteria.
  • Manage packages throughout their lifecycle, including specifying requirements, technical bid evaluations, expediting, and reviewing vendor data.
  • Collaborate with designers on engineering input for 3D models and drawings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree in electrical engineering.
  • 7-12 years of post-graduate experience as an electrical engineer.
  • An excellent attitude towards safety and the ability to comply with safety requirements.
  • Experience in underground mining and/or shaft hoisting, and in sectors like mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure (or similar heavy industries).
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external clients on technical and interpersonal levels.
