Senior Estimator Role

Our company is seeking a highly skilled Estimating Professional to join their estimating team and contribute to the success of their modular construction business. This role involves working closely with various teams, including design, production, project management, and quality control, to ensure that estimates accurately reflect the company's modular construction methods and factory efficiencies.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for modular home projects, including off-site manufacturing, transportation, and on-site installation, ensuring timely completion and minimal delays.
  • Analyze architectural designs, engineering drawings, and modular construction specifications to produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing, utilizing advanced software tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with in-house teams to ensure estimates are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Source and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for factory-built modules and site works, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Prepare budgets, tender submissions, and variation estimates, considering modular construction timelines, logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and update cost databases, including modular-specific materials, prefabrication costs, and transport logistics, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and process optimization specific to modular construction, driving efficiency and productivity.
  • Acknowledge and manage risks related to modular building, such as transport, craning, and site assembly, ensuring safe working practices and minimizing potential liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, modular standards, and client specifications, maintaining high levels of quality and attention to detail.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years estimating experience in the home building industry or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience in estimating within the modular construction industry is highly advantageous.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with advanced estimating software, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify and resolve complex estimating challenges.
  • Strong customer service skills, with ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
