Job Overview:

Modular construction companies require experienced estimators to ensure project profitability, timely delivery, and budget adherence.

This role is crucial in producing accurate cost estimates for modular home projects, including off-site manufacturing, transportation, and on-site installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential and commercial modular projects, taking into account factory-built modules, site works, and logistics.
  2. Analyze architectural designs, engineering drawings, and modular construction specifications to produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
  3. Collaborate with design, production, and project management teams to ensure estimates reflect modular construction methods and factory efficiencies.
  4. Source and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for prefabricated modules and site works.
  5. Prepare budgets, tender submissions, and variation estimates, considering modular construction timelines and transport costs.
  6. Monitor and update cost databases, including modular-specific materials, prefabrication costs, and transport logistics.
  7. Identify opportunities for cost reduction through value engineering and process optimization specific to modular construction.
  8. Assess and manage risks related to modular building, such as transportation, crane usage, and site assembly.
  9. Ensure compliance with building codes, modular standards, and client specifications.
  10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes tailored to modular home construction.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in estimating within the residential and commercial home building industry.
  • Previous experience in estimating for modular construction is highly advantageous.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with advanced estimating software.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to learn new systems and software quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
