We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Operational Risk management initiatives.

This is a highly visible role that provides expert risk advice to all business units across the Consumer/Retail Bank and distribution network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive risk analysis, strategic advisory, and business partnering with senior leaders in Consumer Bank (Line 1)
  • Master risk profiles for designated business units and collaborate in developing risk strategies on Business and Group levels
  • Conduct thorough reviews of issues, assess inherent & residual risks, and their underlying impacts under current regulatory landscape
  • Contribute to Operational Risk in Projects initiatives, strategies, and cost-effective embedding to BAU
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business, enhancing risk culture, providing insights on key risks, controls, metrics, and trends
  • Document findings for management and committee reporting, actively contribute in risk forums and committee meetings
  • Assume an executive manager role in absence and maintain a high-performing 2nd Line Specialist team

Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Risk and/or Compliance within Banking & Financial Services (Line 1 or 2)
  • Proven ability in risk advisory and partnering with the business to deliver continuous value
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate operational risk issues and influence senior stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of prudential and regulatory environment where a Retail Bank operates (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC etc.)
  • Ability to manage workload and drive processes effectively in a matrix working/reporting environment
  • Consumer banking product knowledge is desirable but not essential
