Operational Risk Specialist Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to join our team and provide expert advice on risk management strategies across the Consumer/Retail Bank.

  • Conduct thorough risk analysis and advisory services, partnering with senior business leaders to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Maintain comprehensive risk profiles for designated business units, collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement effective risk mitigation plans.
  • Leverage deep dive and thematic review findings to assess inherent and residual risks, providing actionable insights to inform risk strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of projects initiatives and cost-effective embedding to Business As Usual (BAU).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the business, enhancing risk culture and providing expertise on key risks, controls, metrics, and trends.
  • Document findings for management and committee reporting, actively participating in risk forum and committee meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Operational Risk and/or Compliance within Banking and Financial Services.
  • Proven ability to verbalise/ articulate operational risk issues to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of prudential and regulatory environments (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC etc.).
  • Ability to manage workload and drive processes in a matrix working/reporting environment.
  • Desirable: Consumer banking product knowledge (Mortgages, Cards, Secured and Unsecured Lendings, Deposits etc.).
