Job Title: Coatings Specialist

Overview:

Sydney Trains is seeking a skilled coatings specialist to join our team. As a coatings specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and availability of our passenger fleet.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Surface Preparation:

    You will be required to prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and minor repairs. This may involve working with a range of materials, including metal, fibreglass, composites, and plastic.

  • Painting:

    You will apply paint or coatings using spray guns and/or roller application to ensure even coverage and finish. Your work will contribute to the overall appearance and durability of our trains.

  • Collaboration:

    You will work closely with contractors and suppliers to achieve efficient inspection, servicing, overhaul, modifications/upgrades, and repair of passenger trains.

  • Knowledge Sharing:

    You will share your knowledge and expertise with team members to achieve objectives and maintain safety and quality standards.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need experience in trade skills, qualifications, training, and knowledge relevant to the position. You should be able to undertake the full scope of tasks required to complete job functions, including tasks across trade and non-trade streams. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are essential, as well as the capacity to collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Trade Skills:

    You will have experience in trade skills relevant to the role, including painting, surface preparation, and material handling.

  • Qualifications:

    You will hold relevant trade qualifications, such as a certificate III in painting or a related field.

  • Training and Knowledge:

    You will have completed relevant training and have knowledge of health and safety procedures, quality control systems, and risk management techniques.
