Woodwork Specialist

The Formworker is a skilled craftsman responsible for the construction, erection and installation of structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Health and Safety: Ensure site safety and plant safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Design and Planning: Study specifications to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Concrete Formwork: Build moulds to retain wet concrete and assemble structures using hand tools and wood screws.
  • Manual Handling: Lift, move and position materials such as wood, drywall or fiberglass.
  • Carpentry Skills: Measure, cut, nail and shape materials to create framework and props.
  • Site Work: Erect scaffolding for assembling of structures and construct bulkheads and partitions.
  • Striking and Stacking: Remove formwork to suspended slabs, columns, beams and walls.
  • Training and Development: Instruct onsite personnel on Occupational Health and Safety requirements and industrial safety matters.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual handling tasks.
  • Good communication skills for training and development.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
