About the Role


Nyrstar Hobart Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Statutory Engineer to join our team in Hobart. As a key member of our Asset Management Department, you will play a pivotal role in leading audits, technical, and engineering support.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide specialist advice on Australian and company standards, as well as technical advice on engineering-related matters.
  • Manage all site-registered equipment, forecasting requirements with Work Safe Tasmania.
  • Contribute to Nyrstar Group capital and asset management improvement and review activities.
  • Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), maintenance work instructions, and Hobart Procedures.
  • Enhance systems and processes for ongoing management of statutory requirements and site safety risks.
  • Stay abreast of changes in regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct internal audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

Requirements



  • A relevant engineering degree at Bachelor's level or above.
  • Auditing or a detailed appreciation of auditing, with Lead Auditor in OHS/WHS Management Systems an advantage.
  • Investigation training in ICAM or equivalent methodology.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to drive and implement improvements.
  • Prior experience in both project and maintenance engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to influence.
  • Capacity to perform well under pressure and thrive in a demanding environment.
  • Experience with SAP, preferably.
  • Experience in the heavy industry sector.
