Forensic Mental Health Therapist Role

This role presents a unique opportunity for a skilled and experienced therapist to contribute to the growth and development of our team in one of Queensland's most dynamic forensic mental health environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic programs, tailored to meet the complex needs of clients within the forensic mental health system.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, incorporating multidisciplinary approaches to provide holistic support and guidance to individuals navigating the mental health system.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Townsville, North West QLD, and Mackay to ensure seamless continuity of care and foster a culture of open communication.
  • Provide consultation-liaison services to regional Hospital and Health Services, promoting best practices and addressing emerging trends in mental health.
  • Support the professional growth and development of junior clinicians through supervision, mentoring, and training initiatives.
  • Lead capacity-building projects and training sessions, empowering mental health professionals to excel in their roles.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology (Honours or Graduate Diploma) and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A Class C Driver's Licence and willingness to travel across the designated regions, including occasional overnight stays and travel via small aircraft or ferry.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Psychology (Masters or Doctorate), or significant progress toward completion.
  • Experience working within forensic mental health settings or handling complex clinical presentations.
