Objective:

We are seeking a skilled advocate to support a young woman with chronic pain and mobility limitations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with government organisations, including the NDIS, social housing, and legal services. These organisations have failed to recognise the client's disability support needs, leading to complex appeals processes.

All work can be completed remotely/online.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct online research on government policy and administrative law
  • Analyse government breaches of policy
  • Provide information to the client
  • Write appeals submissions
  • Communicate with the client remotely
  • Transcribe voice recordings from the client
  • Prepare grants submissions to non-profit organisations
  • Advocate for the client in day-to-day dealings with social welfare agencies

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role, e.g. as a paralegal or grant-writer
  • Knowledge of public policy
  • Skills in writing persuasive texts
  • Substantial legal skills
  • Availability for approx. 20 hours per week, preferably Monday - Friday
  • Advanced written and spoken English-language skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A law student or recent graduate
  • Applicants with experience in the legal system or former staff within public or not-for-profit sectors

Ideal Candidate:

A highly motivated individual with excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks is essential.
