We are seeking an advocate to provide support to a young woman with chronic pain and mobility limitations in her interactions with government agencies.

The client requires advocacy in navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), social housing, and legal services.

Duties will include:

  • Conducting online research on government policy and administrative law
  • Analysing government breaches of policy and identifying potential solutions
  • Providing information and guidance to the client
  • Preparing and submitting appeals
  • Communicating with the client remotely and ensuring effective collaboration
  • Transcribing voice recordings from the client to facilitate clear communication
  • Assisting the client in preparing grants submissions to non-profit organisations
  • Advocating for the client in their daily dealings with social welfare agencies

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role, such as a paralegal or grant-writer
  • In-depth knowledge of public policy and its application
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to craft persuasive texts
  • Substantial legal knowledge and expertise
  • Availability for 20 hours per week, preferably Monday to Friday
  • Excellent written and spoken English-language skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
